December Newsletter

Greetings from the Burnettes,
These past 3 months have been full of meetings with friends and family.  We are thankful for the break in traveling in order to settle into a routine with our kids.  We are in awe of God's provisions during this time of finding people to partner with us on this journey.  We want to express our gratitude to the churches that have allowed us to visit with them over these past few months: Friendly Hills Church in Jamestown, NC, Christ Church Greensboro in Greensboro, NC, and Grace Presbyterian in Kernersville, NC.  We are looking forward to visiting other churches after the first of the year.  Our end of the year goal is to be 25% financially supported and we are only 4% away from this goal!
In family news, we celebrated Silas' 2nd birthday at the end of November.  Our little boy loves farms and tractors so we had fun with a little farm party.  On December 9th, we celebrated his "Gotcha Day," the day we brought him home, adopted him, and became his forever family.  We are looking forward to the end of Daryl's job on December 31st.  This is a big step in our process as it will allow us to spend more time completing needed Bible classes, readings, and trainings.  We are thankful for the love and support Daryl's boss and coworkers have demonstrated while we pursue full time missions.  The end of his job also means the end of his salary and our full reliance on God as well as the financial supporters He has brought our way.
We covet your prayers as the beginning of 2014 promises many changes and adjustments for our family.  We also ask that you praise God with us for His provisions and for bringing you along side us on this journey.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Daryl, Leah, Eden, Gabriel, and Silas Burnette

September 2013 Newsletter

This summer has been full of new and exciting things.  The biggest adventure was our trip to Mozambique in August.  We had a wonderful time in Africa and we both felt God's confirmation for our future work with children-at-risk!  We are blessed to have wonderful friends and family that looked after our children as we spent this time seeking God's will.  We appreciate all of your words of encouragement and prayers while on this trip.  We are so excited to share with you more details about our trip so we've made a presentation that we would like to share with you, one on one.

Two weeks after returning from Mozambique we again boarded a plane and set off for a 5 day trip back to Littleton, Colorado for more trainings.  It was here that we met Drew and Michele Brown, WorldVenture Appointees, who are also preparing to serve in Mozambique.  We had a great time meeting them and playing with their two girls.

Other highlights from this summer include Daryl's ordination at our home church, Triad Baptist.  We appreciate the support TBC has provided us in every step of our missions process.  We enjoyed a long weekend at Lake Lure courtesy of Daryl's work at NBFSA.  The twins began preschool at Union Grove Baptist Church and they've enjoyed every moment.

This fall will be filled with sharing our presentation with future partners and continuing our preparations to the mission field.  We again want to thank all of you for your love, support, encouragement, and prayers during this process.

June 2013 Newsletter

Wow-wee!  A lot has happened since we last sent out a newsletter.  Our first big piece of news (and a huge praise) is that our house sold!  God’s timing was absolutely perfect during this trying time but He once again taught us to wait on Him.  Before we had even received an offer on the house, Leah had already given her notice at work that she would not be returning to teach in the fall.  Not sure how we would pay our mortgage with only one income, God intervened and provided for us!  Please rejoice with us.  We’ve had our house on the market for about 2.5 years!

In April, we attended our 2 week Appointee Orientation Training, in Colorado and we left with our hearts full and our to-do list a mile long!  Those 2 weeks were spent fellowshipping with other new missionary appointees, learning about WorldVenture, preparing our speech for the New Missionary Celebration Service, learning about the next steps in our adventure to the mission field, and worshipping God while receiving encouraging words from staff, team mates, and friends.

We’ve prepared a small presentation that we would love to share with you.  If you are interested in hearing more about how you can partner with us on this journey, send us an email or visit our website.  We love talking about what God is doing in our lives and how others can come along side of us to experience God’s goodness every step of the way.

FAQs
Q1: What’s next?
A: We are very busy planning, studying, reading, and preparing for full time missions.  This includes many trainings, readings, and fund-raising.  We are taking a 10 day trip to Mozambique, in August, to meet other team members, explore school options for the kids, see ministry to children-at-risk first hand, and confirm God’s calling in our lives.

Q2: When are you leaving?
A: When God is ready.  While in Colorado for our trainings, we received our budget and we are relying on God to supply all of our needs.
