Tractors and Flowers - The Twins 3rd Birthday Party

For the twins' 3rd birthday we had a tractor and flower party.  My sister-in-law, Lauren, and I made dirt cake (which was really good) in flower pots and in a pasture setting.

Gabe and Eden loved having their own little cakes and they thought it was so funny to eat gummy worms.  They had a blast in the bouncy house and they enjoyed seeing all of their friends and family.  Their favorite gifts were Jessie and Woody from Toy Story.

Eden is a sweet, smart little girl that is determined to get her way.  She is a big helper at home and has a a great imagination.  She loves to play dress up and always prefers to wear a dress or skirt over pants.  Eden likes to draw and paint and she still sticks out her tongue when she's really concentrating on something.  She is a doll baby and the princess of the house (one time she even asked us to call her "Princess" instead of Eden.)

Let it Snow!

On the twins' birthday we woke up to a white covered ground and all schools canceled.  So, we had all day to play in the snow.  What a great birthday present!

This was Silas' first snow!  Since he's just learning to walk, he wasn't able to do much in the snow.  He enjoyed watching the twins slide for a few minutes and he wanted to eat snow but since the snow isn't very deep, I kept pulling grass out of his mouth.

The twins surprised me by how much they were willing to sled down the big hills.  They had a blast playing in the snow!  It will definitely be hard topping this birthday surprise!

Remembering PawPaw Burnette

On January 10th Lester Ray Burnette passed away.  We have had the privilege of living with him for the past two years.  He has been a fantastic great grandfather to our kids, an inspiring grandfather to Daryl, and Godly reliable example to all of those that he ever met.

Gabriel, Eden, and Silas will always remember him as being kind and loving.  They always drank from his sweet tea or orange juice glass, ate tootsie rolls from his hand, and played little games with him like blowing out the fire place.  They enjoyed climbing up into his lap, doodling on his dry erase board, tickling his feet to wake him up, and sneaking extra bites of dessert from his plate when mom wasn't looking.  We all love PawPaw and although we will miss him we know that one day we will be reunited with him in heaven.

Christmas Gatherings

Christmas with Leah's Family

For Christmas this year, Leah's family wanted to fit in some extra time together by having dinner the night of the 23rd, spending the night together, and then waking up and opening presents on Christmas Eve morning.  We had a great time together and we will have to do this again!

Christmas Morning

We didn't know what kind of reaction to expect from our kids.  They are just getting a basic idea of who Santa is and what he does on Christmas.  They were excited to open their presents and couldn't believe that he would bring them castles, after all it is what they asked for.

Silas is still to young to understand what we're doing but he quickly found and ate the leftover cookies.

Decking the Halls

I love my early gift from the kids.  It's not difficult to figure out which reindeer belongs to which kid.

Setting up and decorating the tree.

Silas is constantly testing me to see if he can touch the tree.  We had to put some special ornaments on the bottom that he could play with.

Sparkles the Elf made his grand appearance to see us this year.  The twins loved to find him every morning and they had a blast looking for him.

All 3 kids did great waiting for Santa Claus.  Eden went right up to him, sat down on his lap and told him she wanted a castle.  Gabe stood back, watched his sister then he too, joined her on his lap to make his request, also a castle.  Silas is too young to know any better so right before taking the picture, I popped him right into the middle of the twins.
