Sibling Jealousy

I pick up the twins on Thursday after work and take them to play in the sandbox. When I took off Eden's shoes, I noticed that her Nana had painted her toes. But when I took off Gabe's shoes I found 1 pink toenail and smiled.

I can picture the whole thing . . . Eden was in her Nana's lap getting her nails painted and Gabe was watching the whole thing happen trying to wait his turn. When Eden finished, there was just no way Nana could stand Gabe's instance that he too should have his toenails painted. So she swooped him up and satisfied him by painting 1 nail. Unfortunately, she forgot to take it off later in the day which gave me quite a laugh that evening.

After being back to work for almost a month, I really needed that laugh.

One Last Swim

Before fall gets here, and with the forecast promising more rain and cooler temperatures, we decided to take the twins for a swim one last time this summer.

We bought Gabe and Eden life jackets this summer because it is really hard to watch 2 children by the pool. Gabe is fearless in the water and doesn't understand why we have to hold onto him while he's in the pool. Eden fears the water more than Gabe but gets really close to the edge of the pool to throw toys.

Gabe loves to "jump off" (more like a fall) the side of the pool and he likes to feel the jet bubbles. He isn't afraid to float on his back and likes to be dunked under the water.

Eden is much more cautious in the water. She is completely content playing on the steps, throwing her toys in the water, and walking around the patio. She doesn't really like to be dunked or float on her back.

I'm excited to see how much the twins like or dislike the pool next year. Until one or both can swim, taking them to the pool is a 2 person job. We are very fortunate to have a pool in our backyard and friends and family that visit it often enough so the twins can enjoy it too.
