The pool is open!

Ever since Gabe and Eden saw a cow tumble into the pool this past winter, they have been wanting to get in.  This Memorial Day weekend was the perfect time to break it in!

Eden "cheesed" for the camera for the first time!
This is one of my favorite pictures!
Silas' first time in the pool!  He didn't mind the water at all!

Gabe likes to throw the toys into the pool then "jump" (more like a fall) into the pool after them.
Eden is jumping into the pool already!  I can't wait to see what they can do by the end of the summer!

Silas is 6 months old!

I can't believe this little guy is already 6 months old.
At his check-up he weighs 23 pounds and is 27.75 inches, both in the 90s for %tile.

Silas loves Gabe and Eden.  He hates to be in his pack-in-play where he can't see them.  He is a tough little guy as he is able to take the roughness from his busy siblings.  Silas can sit with a little support and he talks all the time.  He likes to copy sounds and I love to hear him coo.  He is a great sleeper and I love to snuggle with him before bed time.  Silas likes to take a bath and he loves to be in the pool.  He loves to eat!  We are trying to teach him how to hold his own bottle and he really enjoys eating solid foods.  So, far we haven't found anything he doesn't like.  We are so blessed to have Silas in our lives.  I can't wait to see how God will shape him.

Silas' Adoption Finalization

Today we received Silas' Final Decree of adoption.  This little piece of paper finalizes Silas as an official member of our family.  The Clerk of Superior Courts typed a sweet letter to go with this decree.

It reads as follows:

"As Clerk I handle many difficult issues.  It is refreshing to participate in this monumental moment in your lives.  Being able to complete a family is one of the most rewarding parts of this job."

This little boy is a true gift from God.  There is a verse in 1 Samuel that became Silas' adoption verse after we brought him home.  Silas is already making an impact in our lives and in this world.  I can't wait to see what God has in store for his life.

1 Samuel 1:27 "I prayed for this child, and the Lord granted me what I asked of him."

I've got teeth!

For a few days now, Silas has been drooling like crazy.  We thought he might be cutting teeth but since he's barely 5 months old we weren't sure if that was the culprit until 2 little, white teeth appeared!

Silas' First Haircut

I did not plan on getting Silas' haircut today but when I realized how hard it was going to be to get myself and all three kids in and out of the hair salon I figured I would go ahead and make the most of it.  I really didn't want a lot of Silas' hair cut.  He has lost hair on the back because of rolling on the floor but the sides are long and course.  The plan was to trim down the sides to match the back and to leave the top long and curly.

 Before

 Look at all those curls!

All done! Thank you Mrs. Stacy!
